Illinois transportation officials and state police are stepping up enforcement for St Patrick’s Day with a warning to motorists: drive sober or face a DUI. Authorities say alcohol, cannabis and even some prescription drugs can impair judgment and reaction time, increasing the risk of serious crashes. State data shows more than three thousand crashes occurred on St Patrick’s Day between 2020 and 2024, including hundreds of injuries and ten fatalities linked to alcohol or cannabis. The statewide enforcement campaign runs now through the early hours of Monday, March 23.

He was one of just 12 broadcasters nationwide chosen to participate in discussions and provide input during the design and rollout of Google’s digital broadcast automation platform. Although the majority of Ed’s career—spanning roughly four decades—was rooted in music radio, he transitioned into news and information programming in 2012. He says the move into spoken-word broadcasting was a natural evolution after decades of experience in multiple areas of the industry.
